Plush You! Interview with Erin Glaser

Plush You! is an annual exhibit in October that showcases plush creations from artists all over the globe - there are 5 venues throughout Seattle participating in this years event. We are excited to be one of those venues!!

So to get everyone familiar we are posting interviews and doing special giveaways with participating Bluebottle Plush You! artists.

What is your name and where are you located?
My name is Erin Glaser and I'm in Tempe, Arizona.

Everest-- A Rainbow Striped Sock Zombie Puppet

What are your favorite materials and why?
It sounds too convenient, but I really love working with socks. There are an infinite number of patterns and colors-- plus they're already partially sewn into silly shapes.

How long does it usually take for you to complete a piece?
It depends on the piece. If I'm making a standard full-size sock zombie I can generally finish in a couple of hours. But if I'm working on something more detailed-- a pirate zombie, for example-- it can take five or six hours or more to make all the little accessories.

Bebe-- A Small Throwing Zombie with Red Eyes

What are you excited about lately?
I got married in March! To the man I've been in love with for almost nine years. That was pretty exciting.

Which super power would you prefer to have and why: the ability to fly or to be invisible?
I'd better go with invisible-- if I could fly I'd just end up crashing all over the place.

What's your dream project?
For years I've been working on this three-dimensional mural-- I can't really explain it, but it incorporates plastic transparency sheets, microscopic eyelets for movement and about five hundred colors of nail polish. That's probably all you want to know about that.

What did you do last Saturday afternoon?
Last Saturday afternoon I was attending my step-daughter's bachelorette party! I'm 33-years-old and I never get tired of seeing people's reactions when they hear that my step-daughter is getting married or that I have two daughters-in-law and a grandchild.
