Plush You! Interview with Felt Mistress

Plush You! is an annual exhibit in October that showcases plush creations from artists all over the globe - there are 5 venues throughout Seattle participating in this years event. We are excited to be one of those venues!!


So to get everyone familiar we are posting interviews and doing special giveaways with participating Bluebottle Plush You! artists.


What is your name and where are you located?
Felt Mistress aka Louise Evans. Wales UK

What are your favorite materials and why?
Felt, Tweed, Fleece. I've always loved felt, its so easy to sew and you can get great colours , Fleece feels so soft and has a little stretch to it so helps when shaping your plushes. Tweed, what can I say - I love the colours texture, patterns it works really well next to the felt and fleeece and is ideal for smart suit wearing characters.


How long does it usually take for you to complete a piece?
This really depends on the piece. When I'm in the zone there's no stopping me. I hate to leave anything unfinished I lose all track of time
until its complete I would say anything from 2hrs for Kaiju to 10-15hrs for a dressed monster like the politicians.

What are you excited about lately?
The big bar of chocolate in my fridge, My friends birthday party, Holidays, plush shows, De La Soul playing the UK and the large box of felt thats due to be delivered next week.



What's your dream project?
Any work in Japan I love the place so much, starting with an exhibition in La Foret that would be good. I'd love to make a plush that would be used on an album cover, The Beastie Boys please. I'd also love to do a plush for Colette in Paris its such a great shop.


What did you do last Saturday afternoon?
I made a dress for a "Modster" then finished a dog plush for a little girl who had just lost her dog commissioned by her Uncle, it was really sad as they sent me some photos of the poor dog. I was filling up every time I looked at them.
