The Dollar Made Me Do It! Exhibition
The Dollar Made Me Do It! is a series of watercolors, cartoons, and sculpture depicting the exploits of Crime Cat. We all have those moments when we "just can't help ourselves". When the wrong thing comes out of our mouths as our brain is desperately pulling on the breaks. Crime Cat is a character who isn't motivated by any particular financial gain, he just can't resist stealing things. He's compelled to steal simply because there's stuff to be stolen. As a character, he's a comical reminder that our subconscious sometimes sneakily takes over.
Randy Wood grew up in North Olmsted, Ohio and received a BFA in graphic design from Ohio University in 1993. Since 2001 he has been a member of the artist-run gallery, SOIL. In December of 2008 he exhibited his recent sculpture with the group at the Aqua Art Fair in Miami Beach. His cartoons and illustrations have appeared in The Stranger and Tablet. He teaches a class on creating comics at Pratt Fine Art Center and Gage Academy. He lives and works in Seattle.
